My friend John Teeter parked the domain name rocksellout.com with hopes of one day starting a music publication. After a disappointing experience writing for an art & fashion magazine from London, I expressed my displeasure to John and we discussed bringing Rock Sellout to life. Without blinking an eye, I constructed a MySpace and blog the following day.
Four months later, our labor of love now has its very own home.
We’ve made a lot of good friends along the way: Gina was a mutual friend of ours who shared our passion…she was the first contributor onboard. Our friend, Willy, is our slumlord (meaning I pay him monthly rent for hosting the site). He’s also the driving force behind the site’s construction.
My friend Nik climbed aboard shortly after Christmas. He met a young lady online, fell in love, forgot about us…and is hopefully living happily ever after. I wish the two of them the best. She recently relocated to live with him. He’s always welcome to come back. Always.
Marketing the blog soon became an effort I took to various sites. I joined several music communities on Live Journal and started posting links to the blog. I met both Cecilia and Sean there. Both added a different flavor to the recipe. Cecilia keeps us up to date with what’s happening in Sweden and Sean is the site’s official DJ…he keeps us in the know of what’s being heard in the clubs.
We’ve have several contributors come and quickly go along the way, so if the story doesn’t flow, it’s because I erased a lot of the contributors that are no longer with us. Carrying on…
Next came Todd. One of our old contributors referred him to Rock Sellout when the site he was contributing to decided to call it a day. He also produces for Mission Creek Midwest as well as writes for Daytrotter, the Hartford Courant, and his own little blog, Rainbows in Disguise.
The most recent addition to the Rock Sellout family comes from all the way from across the pond. Mark found us shortly after Sean’s interview with The Jam’s Bruce Foxton. He scours the UK and brings us the best new bands the UK has to offer (as well as a weekly UK Album Chart report). You can find Mark’s entries under the category “London Calling”.
By the way, my name is Kip! Thanks for taking the time to visit our site and read our story.

An obvious typo: The word “fabulous” is missing after “his” and before “aunt.”
