After a decade with the label, The Faint have left Saddle Creek Records and will be releasing their 5th LP on their own imprint, blank.wav. The record will be called Fasciinatiion, and will be out on August 5th.
This is quite a defection, as The Faint are one of a handful of bands - alongside Bright Eyes, Cursive and Son, Ambulance - that are very nearly synonymous with Saddle Creek. No reason has been offered for the split or whether it was an amicable separation.
The band will be hitting the road to support the album starting July 27th. Tour dates can be found here.

this is pretty crazy. they have a lot to prove too, after Wet From Birth. it makes me wonder if it’s a major label subsidiary a la Rilo Kiley after they left Saddle Creek. still, it’s going to be one of my most anticipated albums of this year.

I wondered about that as well, Todd. The only information I can find is that it’s the band’s own label. So I don’t know if there’s any connection to a major or not. I’d think after 10 years that could be the only real reason to leave.
