I’ve got a little advice for those of you out there who are promoting your own material (or the material of someone else): Always make a point of mentioning who your influences are on your press sheet. Always! I know it seems like a no-brainer, but you’d be surprised by how many promos I receive that fail to complete such a simple task.
I know, I know…you’re fresher than a blast of Febreze and want me to hear the sounds you created, but I have something to tell you…I’ll always spin something that lists an influence I hold near and dear long before something that doesn’t. /rant
Shortly after reading that Sinkane’s Color Voice was recommended for fans of My Bloody Valentine, it rose to the top of the accumulated pile of CDs on my floor and demanded my attention. By the time I was 2 minutes into the title track (which I’ve shared below), I completely forgot about the MBV reference and was comforted by a Coltrane-esque moment that immediately left me wanting to share it with you.
