Live Shows: Hayden - Norm Theatre UBC

I had the pleasure of going to see Hayden Desser on February 11th, 2008.

I’ve been following Hayden since I was 14 years old & have missed every opportunity to see him, until now.

The venue was a little shabby as it’s a university ‘theatre’.. Bad lighting & awful 70’s drapes for the background.

However, Hayden delivered. The thing I love most about humble musicians is their humor. I can’t get enough.

Hayden played the favored ‘Trees Lounge’, ‘Dynamite Walls’, and of course some old old favorites, which, if you’re a fan you’d know.

I took some photographs, but once again the lighting was bad so here we are.

The girl in the last photo was his opening act, Jenn Grant. But she didn’t open because her flight was late. So she sang a few songs at the end. She was cute & songstressy, but not my type of folksy music that would keep me interested.

All in all, a good show & I am glad I got to see Hayden. I hope he continues to make good music, play the harmonica, praise the underdog & strum that guitar as beautiful as he is.

Gina, if you ever need me to upload mp3s to accompany an article, don’t be afraid to send them to me.
