Ceci’s Friday 5

Omg, it’s back!

Miwa Gemini - Crazy Over You
I only heard Miwa’s music for the first time a few days ago, but I’m already enthralled. Imagine a slightly more soft-voiced Nina Simone picking up a guitar and making gorgeous, low-key indie-pop. I made a post about her earlier this week, which features two other track worth checking out.

Chris Mason - Better
Lush singer/songwriter material from Australia. This song is smooth and beautiful, with sharp as well as soft guitars and Masons lush voice on top. Yum.

The Depreciation Guild - Butterfly Kisses
Electronic shoegaze! Sounds quite a lot like Slowdive, except a bit sharper around the edges. And the singer has the perfect voice for shoegaze - hazy and dreamy. So yeah, I love pretty much everything about this song. Let it sweep you off your feet.

Cafe Con Leche - The Bubblegum Song (Nana-Nana)
Hands down one of the cutest and funniest songs I’ve ever heard. It’s so dorky, and makes you want to sing along whether you like it or not. Plus it has sort of an upbeat Motown sound to it which is just wonderful.

The Hero Cycle - Lovers Crime
Good indie-pop which, due to the male-female vocal combo, can easily be compared to bands such as Sons and Daughters, except that these guys tend to blend in a bit more shoegaze. Oh, and there’s hand-clapping! And no, that does not automatically mean that they’re Swedish. They’re from Vermont. So there.
