The debut album from Chicago’s Star has only just arrived in my grubby hands. Devastator is 30 minutes plus of twelve cracking tracks. Reminding me very much of the Raveonettes, its got that Spectorian wall of sound…Shannon Roberts has that same vocal delivery. Think Jesus And Mary Chain. Are you getting the picture? Feedback to die for!
I can’t describe how much I love this album. Its destined to be on repeat for many a long winter night. If you live anywhere near Chicago I would urge you to see them live! I guess i will have to wait until they get a break and come to the UK. All things being equal, that surely won’t be long if Devastator is a measure of things to come. Let me know your thoughts .

yes. STAR is amazing! i sent them a message about 8 or 9 months ago telling them just how much i loved Switchblade Heart and Pure Gold Reason and they sent me a copy of their album and a sticker! for free! they’re fantastic.

Totally agree Mark, in fact I’ve been pestering them to come over here for ages but it hasn’t happened yet - maybe if we both gang up on them they’ll give in!

hope so they would of been perfect as a support for raveonettes tour, someone must pick up on them soon

There’s a real buzz around this band. You can tell they’re destined for big things. Nice to see support from here in the UK - might just build enough to get them over here.
