Kris Kristofferson Announces Rare Acoustic Tour

My parents were responsible for turning me on to a lot of music as a child. I’ll often talk about my Mom turning me on to The Beatles or my Dad introducing me to the Beach Boys, but there are so many artists that go unmentioned. Take Kris Kristofferson for example. I wouldn’t have though about him had I not received the following e-mail with information about his acoustic tour. I’m glad I received it.

My Dad used to own a ‘67 Mustang with an 8-Track player in it. We listened to a lot of music in that car together. I can’t pinpoint the year, but I remember Kris Kristofferson’s The Silver Tongued Devil and I being a favorite. I hope you like the song I’ve shared from it.

His forthcoming UK tour will consist of an intimate solo acoustic performance. His success as a songwriter brought him to Hollywood, and catapulted Kristofferson into one of the biggest actors of his generation. In 1977, he won a Golden Globe for Best Actor in A Star Is Born and also starred in the films Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore and Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid.

Over a 40-year career, in addition to being a three-time Grammy Award winner, Kristofferson’s songs have been covered by over 450 artists. He’s had seventeen Top 40 albums and has appeared over 100 films, documentaries and television programs. In 1985 he was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. In 2004, he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Earlier this year, Kristofferson was honored with the Johnny Cash Visionary Award at the CMT Awards.
