Tell us a little about the new album. When is the official release date? Where can our readers get a copy?
The album will be for sale on our website (thesaltshakers.com), iTunes, and in stores on September 11, 2007. If you’re in the Milwaukee area on September 8th come to our CD Release show at Mad Planet. Everyone in attendance that evening gets a free copy of the album!!

The Saltshakers

Who are the band’s biggest influences?
The Replacements, Tom Petty, The Pixies, Ryan Adams, The Beatles, The Cure, Guided By Voices, Oasis, David Bowie, Ash, Sloan, etc etc etc. We all listen to a lot of different music.

If someone were visiting Milwaukee for the first time, what clubs should they check out? What bands should they see?
Mad Planet and Cactus Club have been putting on great shows for many many years thanks to Marc Solheim and Eric Uecke. Unfortunately it seems like a lot of my favorite bands from Milwaukee have broken up since the Saltshakers started… but some of them are still kickin’. Heathrow is a great brit pop band that have been around forever. Same with Trolley and the Nice Outfit. I also love Call Me Lightning and the Box Social.

What new music are you currently listening to?
I’m REALLY into that new Kooks record. I’ve been listening to that album over and over again for awhile now… I like almost every single song on it. The new Editors album is pretty cool, too.

If you were making a mix for our readers, what would be the first three songs you’d select?
1 The Kooks - Jackie Big Tits
2 Editors - Smokers Outside the Hospital Doors
3 Ryan Adams - Goodnight Rose

Tell us something about you that we can’t find on Google.
I won the spelling bee in the 3rd grade. I got 2nd place in 4th grade but it was to this kid that skipped a grade and then came back. He was some type of genius freak and I personally think he should’ve been disqualified from the bee.

Oh you mean the band? We eat a lot of Kopp’s burgers and drink a lot of beer.
